A Note from the Chaplain

It is with sadness that I report another one of our brothers has passed, Robert Denton Lybolt II.

Bob was a lifetime resident of Middletown NY and entered into rest on Saturday September 2, 2017. The son of the late Robert D and Mildred Lybolt. He was born on August 8 1947.

Bob was a devoted husband and father. He was a 1965 graduate of Middletown High School and proudly served in the United States Army and is a decorated Vietnam War Veteran. He was a retired machinist from Fleur Chem, Middletown, NY.

Bob was a member of the Ontario Engine and Hose Company #5,The Veteran Firemen Association, he participated in softball, bowling and local dart leagues. His favorite past time were watching Nascar, local dirt track racing, NFL football and Yankees Baseball.

He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his wife Cynthia Swants Lybolt at home, his children Robert D. Lybolt and Shelby Rose Lybolt of Middletown; his brothers Ronald Lybolt (Mary); Richard Lybolt (Mary) his sisters Bonnie Culhane (Douglas)of Newburgh, and Connie McGuire (Daniel)of Otisville.
He was predeceased by his sister Donna Daktar and her husband Harold.

Graveside services will be held on Friday September 22 at 11 AM in Orange County Veteran's Cemetery, Goshen, NY with military honors. A memorial service will follow in Washington Heights Firehouse at 12 noon with the Reverend Daniel Hulseapple officiating.

Bob served 1966 – 1968 in Vietnam, died due to compilations from Agent Orange. He wasn’t a member but he
did serve. He died in Montrose VA Nursing home.

Around the Chapter

Slow Cooker Turkey Chili
• 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
• 1 pound ground turkey
• 2 (10.75 oz.) cans low sodium tomato soup
• 2 (15 oz.) cans kidney beans, drained
• 1 (15 oz.) can black beans, drained
• ½ medium onion, chopped
• 2 tablespoons chili powder
• 1 teaspoon red pepper flake
• ½ tablespoon garlic powder
• ½ tablespoon ground cumin
• 1 pinch ground black pepper
• 1 pinch ground allspice
• Salt to taste
• Shredded cheese

Directions: Heat oil in skillet over medium heat. Place turkey in the skillet and cook until evenly brown. Drain. Coat the inside of a slow cooker with cooking spray and mix in the turkey, tomato soup, kidney beans, black beans and onion. Season with chili powder, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, cumin, black pepper, allspice and salt. Cover and cook 8 hours on low or 4 hours on high. Adjust the seasonings based on your level of spice that you enjoy. Top with your choice of shredded cheese. Best served hot and with Italian bread.
